Pete's BLOG-Day 26, 346. The debt ceiling fiasco

Today is Saturday, January 5, 2013. My stats today: 10 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes on the exercise ball and 40 minutes of walking = 2.2 miles for a January total of 11.3 miles. My weight was 163.2 pounds.

QUOTE from Zadie Smith in the Reader's Digest: "The world does not deliver meaning to you. You have to make it meaningful...and decide what you want and need and must do."

My THOUGHTS today: With the debt ceiling fight looming in the weeks ahead the thought going through my mind is, Why did the Republicans cut taxes in 2001 and 2003 under "W" and think that they were going to produce more revenue when 'trickle-down' economics didn't work under Ronald Reagan. He tripled the national debt in his 8 years from one trillion to over three trillion by doing the same thing. And why didn't the Republicans pay for W's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq instead of putting them on the credit card? And why didn't the Republicans pay for the Part D Prescription Drug law implemented in 2006 by putting those expenses on the same credit card?  For some reason the Republicans never hesitated to raise the debt ceiling when "W" was in office. But now with Obama as President they are threatening to shut down the government unless they get their way. This is why I hate Republicans - they are truly the "problem-creator's" for the USA.

HUMOR for today:
Q. What was the smart thing a Democrat did who bought an outhouse?
A. He rented the basement to a Republican.
