Pete's BLOG-Day 26,330. A blizzard today - maybe a record.1.

Today is Thursday, December 20, 2012. My stats today: 10 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes on the exercise ball and 20 minutes of shoveling snow = the equivalent of 1.0 mile of walking for a December total of 41.0 miles. My weight was 162.0 pounds.

QUOTE from Mark Twain: "Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it."

My THOUGHTS  today: Today we're having our first measureable snowfall. It is now 11:22 AM and we've had over 6 inches of snow and the winds are blowing from 20 to 45 mph. In other words we're in the middle of a blizzard. State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the potential exists for a HIGH STATEWIDE AVERAGE SNOWFALL. Waterloo has already received 10 inches. His records show the following for a statewide average: On March 10-14, 1951 Iowa had 14.3 inches; January 2-4, 1971 we had 10.5 inches; December 7-9, 2009 we had 10.3 inches; March 4-6, 1959 we had 9.5 inches; January 11-13, 1979 we had 8.6 inches; and December 23-27, 2009 we had 8.6 inches. (Record snow for a single storm at one location: 27.2 inches at Iowa City during March, 1951.)
I'm pretty sad because Ruth Ann and I will not be able to make our 4 PM Happy Hour tonight. Like Mark Twain says - we can talk about the weather but we can't do anything about it.
